The energetic body is where the deeper dimensions of Hatha Yoga begin and is the realm we look to when we want to understand how the benefits of the physical practices affect more than our physique. By knowing and understanding the mapping of the energetic body, we can begin to craft classes that have a more intentional and specific effect on the emotional and mental wellbeing of our students.

The energetic pathways (nadis) and energy capacitor points (marmas) are affected by the asanas we practice. Knowing how they are related and affected, as well as how working with them affects our constitution (dosha), provides another teaching tool for extraordinary offerings.

In this Advanced Teacher Training weekend, we will cover:

  • short history of marmas and marma therapy
  • locating marma points
  • identifying and determining relationship to asanas
  • symptoms when there is injury to marmas
  • marma points and relation to other Eastern concepts such as nadis, chakras, meridians, and to Western concepts such as facial planes, trigger points
  • marma points and asana
  • marma point therapy (touch, pressure, aromatherapy, massage, asana)

SARAH KUCERA

Sarah Kucera, DC CAP attended Mount Madonna Institute in Watsonville, California to receive her degree as an Ayurvedic Practitioner. Ayurveda is the sister science to yoga, the ancient and sacred practice of medicine from India. Being able to help people with their diet and daily practices through the wisdom of Ayurveda has allowed her to merge all of her past studies and current practices together.

Sarah is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through Yoga Alliance. She received her degree in Exercise Science from the University of Kansas and worked in the field of corporate wellness before continuing her education at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City. Being a student of both yoga and chiropractic at the same time, she quickly realized the link between the therapeutic qualities of yoga and chiropractic care. It was felt natural that the two disciplines could compliment each other. Having her chiropractic practice settled within the same space as Kansas Siddhi Yoga has allowed her to make this obvious link.
