In February in the midwest, our inner fire can feel quite dim. The holidays are long past and the cold is getting old. In the spirit of finding balance, what we need is a little spark to rekindle our vivacity, our blazing gratitude for life and unbridled joy for living fully and teaching others by example.
Vira means "hero" or "warrior" and the related word virya means "potency, activation, transformation". A Vira Sadhana is a dynamic practice pathway to rekindle the fires of transformation and an opportunity to re-focus on an exploration of the power that lies within us.
In this week-long daily practice, we will reignite the sacred flame of life with humility and confidence and embrace challenges to approach our potential in strength, flexibility and inner presence.
With a love of living fully, through this practice we will explore destructive mental-emotional and relationship patterns as well as the cultivation of whole being health and purification using solar energy and tapas-based asana sequences along with mantra, kriya and pranayama.
The week will begin with a 2 hour session which will include a setting of intention and clarification of goals for the week and a Solar practice. The daily noon-time practices (so we can practice in the light) will increase in intensity as the week continues culminating in our Saturday morning practice. Following the practice on Saturday, we'll dive into a session that includes reflection as well as unpacking the necessary ingredients for a Vira Sadhana. This includes an exploration of asanas and their energetic signature as well as the bhava and psychological factors that go into creating a Vira Sadhana. There will also be a Teacher Practicum of Vira sequences based on your hOMework assignment.
This workshop, which fulfills 15 hours of KSY's 300-Hour Teacher Training Program, is open to all yoga teachers and experienced, injury-free yoga students.
