STYLES
At Kansas Siddhi Yoga we practice a popular form of traditional hatha yoga called Vinyasa Flow. This form focuses on integrating breath and movement while cultivating acceptance, awareness, strength, flexibility and alignment. The postures, or asanas (ah-sah-nahs), are connected by deep, conscious breath to create the effects of Flow, balance and transformation. Vinyasa Flow Yoga allows you to start right where you are now and design a regular yoga practice that is appropriate for your specific needs.
DETAILED CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
The Introduction To Yoga one-day workshop is an excellent place to begin exploring yoga. This 2 hour workshop is a great overview for the curious and will help you recognize if this is the path for you!
Basics Flow Yoga
This class is recommended for brand-new students, those new to Flow-style yoga or anyone wanting a methodically paced class. Principles of proper alignment, breathing and mindfulness are taught in elemental versions of basic poses. Also a wonderful way for more experienced students to get a "yoga tune-up" and go deeper into the foundation poses.
Lunar Flow Yoga - Gentle Yoga & Guided Meditation
These classes have a soothing, down-tempo energy and aim to increase flexibility and range of motion while calming the nervous system. In Lunar classes you will begin to undo the damage chair-sitting has done to our backs. Open to all students, including brand-new beginners (and everyone who insists they aren't flexible enough to do yoga!), Lunar classes offer a balance of meditation, calming breathwork and slow, deep stretches that intend to stimulate circulation, promote a sense of stillness within and foster greater embodiment and mindfulness. Lunar classes are also excellent Pre-Natal Yoga classes. (Inform the teacher that you are pregnant.)
Solar Flow Yoga (1) or (2)
These classes have a dynamic energy and can be quite invigorating. We'll explore a powerful flow of poses designed to build heat, amplify your cardiovascular system and detoxify the body. Solar classes are for students seeking a stimulating, strengthening yoga practice. The (1/2) or (2/3) notation indicates the level of complexity and challenge in sequencing the postures. Solar 1/2 is great for anyone who wants to get started with an active yoga practice or those who have spent some time in the Basics Classes. Solar 2/3 are open to all but best suited to those who have an understanding of the basic yoga postures and the principles of flow yoga.
Yin/Yang
These unique classes are a perfect blend of Yin energy (like in our Lunar classes) and Yang energy (like in our Solar classes). As always, breath is emphasized as well as a heightened awareness of each movement, transition and posture. You'll have the opportunity to flow through a warm up and standing Yang poses to prepare you for the contemplative and deep Yin postures. Yin/Yang indicates perfect balance and that's exactly what you'll find in these artfully sequenced classes. These classes are appropriate for advanced beginners and beyond. Many advanced yogis embrace these classes as a way to deepen their practice yet the pace is manageable for advanced beginners as well.
