WHERE TO BEGIN?

TRY YOGA, JUST DROP IN TO ANY OF THESE CLASSES:

Mondays | 7:00-8:15pm | Basics
Wednesdays | 7:00-8:00pm | Lunar Yoga
Thursdays | 6:15-7:30pm | Basics
Saturdays | 11:00-12:00pm | Basics
Sundays | see workshops page for dates | Relax Deeply

Please note: The classes listed above are either taught with beginners in mind or go at a pace any beginner can manage. Our other classes are not and can therefore be frustrating to a newcomer. We would like your first experiences with yoga to NOT be frustrating and so highly recommend you begin with one of the classes above. Even if it's just once!

Do I need to sign up in advance?

No! Just drop in. Show up 10 minutes early for your first class to fill out a new student card, meet the teacher and get acquainted with the studio space. We have loaner mats for new students and all the props you'll need. Just dress comfortably and bring your open mind. We can help you decide whether to buy a single class or a class pass once you're at the studio.

Do I need to wear special clothes?

Yoga classes involve movement so it's important that you are dressed comfortably. We keep the room around 80 degrees so for some, that may mean you'd also prefer to dress lightly. We advocate somewhat form-fitting clothing only because baggy clothes can sometimes get in your way (ie: shirt falling in your face in downward dog) and make it difficult for the teacher to see your body to assist you in the poses. At our studio, most women wear either capri-length or full-length "stretchy pants" with a fitted tank top or t-shirt. Most men wear shorts and a fitted t-shirt. Please don't let this be an issue for you, these are just suggestions. Come as you are and we'll go from there!

Do I need to bring anything special?

Just an especially open mind and positive attitude! We have loaner mats for new students and high quality yoga props for you to use. You might like to bring a water bottle and a small hand towel.

What do these class names mean?

Basics classes teach the foundation and principles of a flow-style yoga class. You can expect there to be a combination of standing and seated poses, and as such, these classes are moderately vigorous. These classes will prepare you for the Solar (Vinyasa Flow) classes on our schedule.

Lunar Yoga classes offer a slow, deep stretch with an emphasis on deeply releasing the hips, legs, and lower back. These classes are an excellent starting point as well as a complement to other activities (golf, running, flow yoga, etc). Most poses are seated, this class is not vigorous but will go deep. Great for anyone who thinks they are "tight".

Restorative Yoga classes are all about recalibrating your nervous system and practicing stillness, meditation and deep relaxation. These poses are all floor-based and use a multitude of props to bring your body into optimal positioning for relaxing deeply. These classes are extremely gentle and appropriate for anybody that has ever felt stressed and wants to learn a way out.
