Anita's compassionate style of teaching encourages a balance of lightness and mindful effort. Cultivating awareness, intention and safe body alignment, she offers insight to the full expression of the yoga postures while also encouraging acceptance of one's own body just as it is right now. She creates a calm and inviting atmosphere in which to nurture your heart and soul's full potential.
Anita began passionately teaching yoga in 2001 and as part of her commitment to continuing her yoga education, she completed a year-long apprenticeship with Gina Caputo in 2006. In doing so, she realized the importance of a consistent, dedicated practice and the tremendous value and unique opportunity of learning from a respected, knowledgeable and compassionate teacher.
In addition to her apprenticeship at Kansas Siddhi Yoga, Anita has completed YogaFit Teacher Training: levels I & II and the Radiant Child Yoga Program Teacher Training with Shakta Kaur Khalsa, RYT 500: levels I & II. She received her Associates Degree in Applied Science-Physical Therapy at Penn Valley Community College. She is also certified to teach Pilates by Personal Best Pilates.
Anita has a special passion for teaching Restorative Yoga. In 2008, Anita completed an intensive teacher training with world renowned yoga teacher, Judith Hanson Lasater, Ph.D, P.T. Upon completion of extended study requirements, Anita earned a Relax & Renew® Restorative Yoga Teacher certificate which places her on Judith's website that lists her recommended Restorative Yoga teachers nationwide. Knowing that we all lead busy lifestyles, in which stress is bound to escalate, Anita believes a Restorative Yoga practice is essential to modern life.
Anita is a Native Missourian with a heart for the Southwest, especially Sedona, Arizona where she and her husband Paul were married in 1997. She is a mother of four: two daughters and twin boys; and has two grandchildren. She and her husband are raising their playful brood in Lee's Summit.
Anita believes we are all teachers to one another and offers her sincere gratitude to the many beautiful souls at KSY, dedicated to the practice of yoga: stepping on the mat time after time, with intention and passion; to all KSY Yoga Teachers for endless words of encouragement and their compassion in action; and to Gina Caputo for endlessly empowering her to seek her potential and reveal her higher purpose. Last, but never least, she extends a heartfelt thanks to her husband and the little souls in her life: her children. "Everyday you are my most loving and challenging teachers!"
