Sarah strives to present yoga as a lifestyle and an informed approach to living rather than simply an Easternized workout session. A class with Sarah reminds us to laugh often, to let go of excessive self-judgement and never take ourselves too seriously. Her lighthearted approach is balanced by her extensive studies of health and the human body which give focus to safety through proper positioning and a continual awareness of the breath.
While pursuing her degree in Exercise Science from the University of Kansas, Sarah worked as an epidemiology intern at the Cooper Institute in Dallas, TX whose various facilities include a preventive medicine clinic, spa, fitness center and non-profit research institute. While interning, Sarah also completed a certification program qualifying her to provide dietary guidance and nutritional modifications to healthy individuals and those with health conditions alike.
After graduating from the University of Kansas, Sarah worked for Corporate Fitness Works developing fitness and wellness programs at the Sprint Campus Fitness Center in Overland Park, KS. During this time she also trained with the Physicalmind Institute to learn the fundamentals of teaching Pilates. Finding a bridge between Pilates and Yoga, she has enjoyed incorporating some of the core principles of both in her Yoga and Pilates classes. Inspired by the opportunity to help others optimize health, she continued her education at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City.
From a small town in Iowa, Sarah has made Missouri her home. Now a chiropractor in addition to a yoga teacher, Sarah witnesses daily how yoga can serve as a healing method for people of all shapes, sizes and conditions and is anxious to do her part to get the whole world to practice yoga.
