Introduction to Yoga with Dr. Sarah Kucera

This 2-hour workshop is a perfect starting point for adults of all ages, fitness levels and flexibilities. You will be introduced to the basic principles and postures of a yoga class in a safe, supportive and open environment. We'll go step-by-step through the fundamentals to provide you with a solid foundation on which to build a safe and intelligent yoga practice. Besides increasing flexibility and developing strength, a regular yoga practice will awaken the mind-body connection which allows you to release unnecessary stress and experience deep relaxation. This workshop is perfect for brand-new beginners or anyone who feels they have never learned proper alignment of the basic yoga postures and their truest purpose.

Please plan to arrive 10 minutes early to complete your registration information and begin your new path to increased health and inner-peace. You'll want to wear comfortable but not baggy clothing and a yoga mat will be provided for you. We'll take a break for questions and go over modifications for injuries or physical challenges you might have.

This workshop is ideal for anyone who is reluctant to try yoga because you're concerned about jumping right into a public class or anyone who wants to take a refresher course with a friend or spouse. We'll break down the fundamentals of a basic hatha yoga practice and you'll have the opportunity to ask questions and explore yoga poses and conscious breathing without concern for "keeping up".

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Sarah strives to present yoga as a lifestyle and an informed approach to living rather than simply an Easternized workout session. A class with Sarah reminds us to laugh often, to let go of excessive self-judgement and never take ourselves too seriously. Her lighthearted approach is balanced by her extensive studies of health and the human body which give focus to safety through proper positioning and a continual awareness of the breath.

From a small town in Iowa, Sarah has made Missouri her home. After obtaining a bachelors degree in Exercise Science from the University of Kansas, she continued her education at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City. Now a chiropractor in addition to a yoga teacher, Sarah witnesses daily how yoga can serve as a healing method for people of all shapes, sizes and conditions and is anxious to do her part to get the whole world to practice yoga.
