Kalaripayat Classes at KSY: India's Ancient Martial Art

3:00-5:00pm | Saturdays | Jan 28, Feb 4, 11, 18, Mar 3, 10 | Drop-in $20

Kalari, is a martial arts practice rooted in India with strong relationship to Ayurveda and postures reminiscent of Yoga. The practice uses powerful, flowing movements and the concept of marma points or vital points not just to defend prana, but also to heal. Kalari encourages flexibility, but it is the strengthening qualities of Kalari that are empowering and invigorating for both body and mind. These Kalari sessions cover basic movements and static postures, and beginning forms or sequences.

SARAH KUCERA

Sarah Kucera began her studies of Kalari while on retreat with Shiva Rea in Kerala, India. Feeling an immediate and deep connection to the practice, she began a more intensive study with her current teacher, Gerhard Schmid in Hamburg, Germany. With great excitement for the opportunity to introduce this ancient discipline to Kansas City and start to build a Kalari community here, she's offering these dynamic Saturday sessions.
